- The reason Knol is called as authoritative because others can rate and comment on articles, which is not possible with Wikis.
- Knol has content about almost everything, try searching for it. Most of it is imported from Wikipedia though.
- The license for the content is Creative Commons, which means content is owned by author and cannot be used for commercial purposes. This is same as Wikipedia.
- Unlike Wikipedia, Knol tries to put in some well formed structure around the content. It essentially tries to incorporate all the essential elements we use while publishing a paper.
- Ability to have multiple articles on same topic is a very good feature as against Wikipedia. This was one very big drawback with Wikipedia, you could either edit existing article or have to pick article name so that it doesn't coincide with existing article. This is very essential feature for lot of controversial topics.
Knol is a competition for Wikipedia and not for Wikis in general so I don't see any usecase for enterprises internal use.
